The Texas Wesleyan athletic department has been competing in intercollegiate sports for over a century. The Rams boast 240 All-Americans, 310 Scholar-Athletes, and six NAIA Hall of Famers. Here is a look at some of the highlights the Rams have enjoyed in every sport since 1902:
Baseball: Texas Wesleyan baseball has amassed nearly 1,600 victories in its modern-era (since 1967) and has had 41 players drafted in the major leagues. Former Ram Jeff Moronko also saw time in the majors with the Cleveland Indians.
- The baseball team won Red River Championships in 2007 and 2010, and the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship in 2016.
- The baseball program's rich history dates back to the early 1900's when the roster included future MLB Hall of Famer Tris Speaker.
- The Rams have advanced to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round in three of the last six seasons.
- The Rams' current coaching staff boasts nine seasons of MLB experience in assistant coach Kelly Shoppach.
-The Rams have produced 21 All-Americans and 21 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Men's Basketball: Texas Wesleyan has competed in men's basketball since the 1935-36 season, with a two-year hiatus during World War II.
- In 2017, the team won its second NAIA Division I National Championship. Dion Rogers was named NAIA Tournament MVP, while the team featured three All-American selections.
- The 2006 team made history by winning the program's first NAIA National Championship. They also became the lowest seed (27th) ever to win the NAIA National Tournament when Ben Hunt hit a three with 0.2 seconds remaining to deliver a 67-65 win over Oklahoma City.
- The Rams have made 18 NAIA National Tournament Appearances beginning with Elite Eight finishes in 1940 and 1941.
- In 1947 Clifton McNeely led the nation in scoring and was taken with the first pick of the first NBA Draft by the Pittsburgh Ironmen; however, McNeely opted to stay in Texas where he became a high school coaching legend.
- The Rams have produced 32 All-Americans, including the 2008-09 Texas College Player of the Year, Chris Berry, and eight NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Women's Basketball: Texas Wesleyan has competed in women's basketball since the 1970-71 season.
- The women's basketball team advanced to their first-ever NAIA National Championship in 2005. In 2011 they made a return trip to nationals after posting a 28-win season.
- In 2017 Katelynn Threats, a Fort Worth native, became the program's first ever three-time NAIA All-American.
- Nicole Gleason earned All-American accolades in both 2019 and 2020 and went on to become the first athlete in program history to play professional basketball when she signed with the Alloyfold Canterbury Wildcats of New Zealand in 2021.
- The Lady Rams have produced nine All-American and seven NAIA Scholar-Athlete selections.
Cross Country/Track & Field: Texas Wesleyan has competed in cross country and track & field since 2010.
- The cross country teams have combined for four conference championships and five NAIA National Championship appearances while sending at least one athlete to the NAIA National Championship 17 times.
- The women's track & field team produced a conference championship in 2012 while the men and women's teams have sent athletes to national competition 14 times.
- The programs boast a combined 15 All-Americans and 16 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Football: Texas Wesleyan's football program made its return in 2017 after a 76-year hiatus. The program began in 1902. The Rams of Polytechnic College competed until 1914 when PC became Texas Women's College. In 1934 men were readmitted to Texas Wesleyan College, and the Rams once again took to the gridiron from 1935-41. The team won a conference co-championship in 1941, just weeks before the attack on Pearl Harbor. In 1942 many of Texas Wesleyan's athletes including its football players enlisted and served the U.S. Armed Forces with distinction during World War II.
- In four seasons since the program's return, Head Coach Joe Prud'homme has produced 28 all-conference selections, 74 academic all-conference selections, 17 SAC Scholar-Athletes and one All-American in wide receiver Brandon Rolf (2019).
- In the Rams led the Sooner Athletic Conference with eight SAC Scholar-Athletes.
Men's Golf: Texas Wesleyan has competed in men's golf since 1940.
- The men's golf team has won seven national titles and has finished in the Top-3 28 times, while making 59 National Championship appearances in 66 years of NAIA membership.
- The Rams have produced 106 All-America selections and 30 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
- 11 individuals have won medalist honors at the NAIA National Championship including back-to-back titles by freshmen David Ravetto (2016) and Rowan Lester (2017).
- Danny Mijovic won the NAIA Individual National Championship in four consecutive seasons.
- Head Coaches O.D. Bounds (1972) and Bobby Cornett (2012) as well as players Ian Leggatt (2011) and Danny Mijovic (2011) have all been inducted to the NAIA Hall of Fame.
Women's Golf: Texas Wesleyan has competed in women's golf since the 2012-13 season.
- On October 1, 2013, Alexis Belton became the first Lady Ram to notch an individual tournament win. The first team victory came at Southern Arkansas on March 31, 2015.
- The program has now recorded 15 individual and 13 team wins including Sooner Athletic Conference Championships in 2018 and 2021.
- The team has been rated in 51 consecutive NAIA National Coaches' top-25 Polls dating back to 2013.
- The team has made six consecutive NAIA National Championship appearances, finishing as high as fourth in 2016 while boasting three top-10 finishes.
- Head Coach Kevin Millikan has produced seven NAIA All-Americans and nine NAIA Scholar-Athletes while the team has been named an NAIA Scholar-Team in all nine seasons.
- Alex Schies was named 1st-team NAIA All-American and Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year in all four seasons (2014-2018) while winning SAC Medalist honors twice.
Men's Soccer: Texas Wesleyan has competed in men's soccer since 1988.
- The men's soccer team won their first Conference Championship (Red River) and advanced to the Region VI tournament for the first time in 2005.
- In 2011, the Rams advanced to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round for the first time in the history of the program.
- Ram Soccer has the third most goals scored in one game in NAIA history, with 23 goals in 2003 against Dallas Christian.
- The Rams have had five NAIA All-Americans and 20 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Women's Soccer: Texas Wesleyan has competed in women's soccer since 1998.
- The women's soccer team has produced three conference championships, most recently the Sooner Athletic Conference title in 2018.
- In 2008 they advanced to the NAIA National Tournament.
- In 2019 junior Tameir Grosvenor rewrote the Texas Wesleyan record book with 30 goals to move her career total to 78 goals, breaking records set by Jessica Carrion in 2003 and 2005 respectively. Grosvenor was named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2018 and NAIA All-American in 2018 and 2019.
- The Lady Rams have had nine NAIA All-Americans and 16 NAIA Scholar-Athletes
Softball: Texas Wesleyan has competed in softball since 1978.
- The softball team won the Red River regular season and tournament titles in 2012.
- The Lady Rams have won five conference championships, most recently in 2012.
- Lady Ram head coach Shannon Gower became the program's winningest coach in 2009. That record now stands at 420.
- The Lady Rams have produced four All-Americans and 22 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Table Tennis: Texas Wesleyan began competing in Table Tennis in 2002.
- Texas Wesleyan Table Tennis is one of the most dominant programs in college athletics.
- The Rams have won 73 national titles since 2002, including a stretch of 11 consecutive team titles (2004-2014)
- They have won 14 NCTTA Coed Team National Championships.
Men's Tennis: The Rams have competed in men's tennis intermittently from 1946-2001. The program was revived prior to the 2017-18 season.
- The team won Texoma Conference Championships in 1974, 1975, 1976, and 1978 and the Red River Athletic Conference Championship in 2021.
- The Rams advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in 1978, 1979, 1983, 1984, and 1998.
- The team has featured one NAIA All-American and six NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Women's Tennis: The Lady Rams competed in women's tennis from 1975-76 through 2001. The program was revived prior to the 2015-16 season.
- The Lady Rams won Heart of Texas Conference Championships in 1990 and 1999.
- The program advanced to the NAIA National Tournament in 1979 and 1998.
- Since their return to the court in 2015-16, the Lady Rams finished as the Region Runner-up five times.
- The program has seen nine NAIA Scholar-Athlete Selections.
Men's Wrestling: The Rams began competing in Men's Wrestling in 2019-20.
- In just their second season of competition the Rams won the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship in 2021.
- Head Coach Ray Bedford was named SAC Coach of the Year in 2021 while La-Stot Pleasant was named SAC Player and Freshman of the Year.
- The team has produced three individual conference champions, 11 SAC Scholar-Athletes and sent six individuals to NAIA National Championship competition.
Women's Wrestling: The Rams began competing in Women's Wrestling in 2019-20.
- In the program's inaugural season, Maddison Brown won the 2020 Sooner Athletic Conference Championship in the 101 lb weight class.
- In two seasons the program has produced three individual conference champions and sent four individuals to compete at the NAIA National Championships and notched three NAIA All-Americans.
- In the program's second season, the Lady Rams were ranked in all five NAIA Coaches' Polls, ranking as high as 12th nationally.
Volleyball: Texas Wesleyan has competed in volleyball since 1978.
- The volleyball has made four consecutive NAIA National Championship appearances including trips to the Championship's final site in 2017 and 2019.
- In total, the program has made 13 NAIA National Championship appearances, notching runner-up finishes in 1982 and 1990.
- In 1991 Willa Gipson and Diane Urey were both inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.
- In 2005, the Lady Rams set school records by winning 58 consecutive games and 30 consecutive matches.
- In 2020 Bailey Foy became the program's seventh 1st-team NAIA All-American and the first to accomplish the feat since Setphanie McLaughlin in 1990.
- The Lady Rams have totaled 27 All-Americans and 26 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
