1. Do you have scholarships?

The two types of scholarships available are athletic scholarships and academic

scholarships.

Athletic Scholarships (Table Tennis Scholarships)

· For a scholarship of $ 3,000, you must have a confirmed USATT rating of 2300 if

you are male or 2200 if you are female, within one year of applying and attending

Texas Wesleyan University.

· For a scholarship of $ 4,000, you must have a confirmed USATT rating of 2400 if

you are male or 2300 if you are female, within one year of applying and attending

Texas Wesleyan University.

· For a scholarship of $ 6,000, you must have a confirmed USATT rating of 2550 if

you are male or 2450 if you are female, within one year of applying and attending

Texas Wesleyan University.

· For a scholarship of $ 7,000, you must have a confirmed USATT rating of 2650 if

you are male or 2550 if you are female, within one year of applying and attending

Texas Wesleyan University.

Scholarships are never guaranteed, but are awarded based upon availability.

For international students who do not have a USATT rating, it is at the discretion of the

head coach to determine a player’s ability level and possible athletic scholarship level.

All athletic scholarships are awarded solely at the discretion of the head coach.

2. What are the academic requirements playing for the Rams?

In order to compete on the team, student athletes must keep a minimum grade point

average (GPA) of a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1). Players are subject to

academic progress reports throughout each semester, at the discretion of the head coach.

To be eligible to play for the university, undergraduate varsity student athletes must be

enrolled in a minimum 9 credit hours and maintain a 2.0 GPA, while graduate students

must be enrolled in a minimum 6 credit hours and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Junior varsity

team members must be enrolled in a minimum parttime,

half time, which means 6 hours

for undergraduate and 4 hours for graduate students, and maintain the same GPA

requirements as varsity team members.

3. What is the team’s training schedule?

For the fall 2008 semester, the Texas Wesleyan table tennis squad will hold table tennis

training 5 days a week, 2 hours per day. The team will also carry out weight training 2

days per week, depending on each student athlete’s current physical condition.

4. What is college table tennis?

“The National Collegiate Table Tennis Association…maintains the eligibility and

integrity of intercollegiate Table Tennis while providing the regulation of Varsity Table

Tennis at the Collegiate Level in North America…

Texas Wesleyan University is a member of the NCTTA Texas Division, competing each

semester in team matches against surrounding colleges and universities. The Rams

qualify through the Texas Division to compete in the annual NCTTA National Collegiate

Table Tennis Championships.

5. Tell me a little about Texas Wesleyan University.

Texas Wesleyan University, founded in 1890 by the United Methodist Church, has a

tradition of integrating the liberal arts and sciences with professional and career

preparation. Located on the east side of Fort Worth, Texas, Wesleyan has a total student

body of approximately 3,200 with a law school, nationally recognized health science

master's degree program, a master’s in business administration (MBA) program, a

master's degree in education program and numerous undergraduate programs.
