MUSKOGEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (15-6, 11-2 RRAC) stretched its winning streak to five games with a 68-54 win at Bacone College (10-11, 5-8) on Monday.
Ashley Davis poured in 11 points in the first half for the Lady Rams. Texas Wesleyan jumped ahead 11-4 to start the period. The Warriors used a 5-1 run to get back in the game and later tied the contest at 20 with a three from Allyson Harrold. The Lady Rams reasserted themselves with an 8-0 run and led 35-24 at the break.
The Warriors managed one drive in the second half, cutting the score to 41-36 after consecutive three-point plays. Texas Wesleyan responded with 11 unanswered points and led by as many as 19 (62-43) on their way to the 68-54 win.
For the game, the Rams outshot the Warriors 39%-27% and led 48-41 in rebounding.
Davis led all scorers with 22 points. Brittany Lewis finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Tiffany Adair added seven points and 10 boards in the win. Priscilla Roel led the Warriors with 13 points and eight rebounds. Harrold added 12 points.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Waxahachie, TX, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University. That game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start. |
