OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The 5th ranked Texas Wesleyan University Women's Golf team won its first Sooner Athletic Conference Championship at Lincoln Park on Sunday. The Rams shot a final round 309 to pull away from the field while
Alex Schies shot a round of 74 to win her second consecutive individual SAC title.
With rain washing out Saturday's second round, the Rams shot the two lowest scores of the tournament at 305 and 309 to finish at 614 on the par 72 (6,020 yard) West course at Lincoln Park.

Alex Schies continued to add to her legacy with her second SAC individual title. Schies has been named 1st-team NAIA All-American as well as SAC Player of the Year in each of her first three years. On Sunday, she turned in a round of 74 to break a three way tie and defend her SAC Championship from a year ago.
Schies finished at +3 for the tournament, four shots better than her teammate
Jaci Trotter and Oklahoma City's Savannah Moody.
No. 13 Oklahoma City kept the pressure on the Rams, but came up seven shots short at 621 for the tournament.

Trudy Allen and
Elena Sinde Romero all joined Schies on the All-Tournament team by finishing in the top-5. Trotter, playing as an individual, was just four shots off of the pace set by Schies and finished as the tournament runner-up. Allen and Sinde Romero tied for fifth at 154.
Each of the Lady Rams' scoring five came in under 80 on Sunday.
Jacinda Chan finished tied for 13th after a round of 79, and
Emily Hunt tied for 16th after a final round 78
Madalyn Fee and
Aubrey Zastoupil also played as individual medalists and finished tied for 20th and 30th respectively.
Texas Wesleyan will host its annual Lady Rams Golf Classic on Monday, April 30, in advance of the NAIA National Championship which will be played at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, May 22-25.
Ramblings
- The Lady Rams are in their sixth year of existence and fifth year as an SAC member. In their previous four years of SAC membership they posted a pair of runner-up finishes and a pair of third place finishes at the SAC Championships.
- The Lady Rams finished as the SAC's runner-up last season, while
Alex Schies won the individual title.
- The Lady Rams stretched their streak to 26 consecutive top-10 finishes. They have finished in the top-5 in seven of their nine tournaments this season including four wins and two runner-up finishes.
- This was the second win of the season at Lincoln Park for the team and third victory for Schies on the course. The team was victorious at Oklahoma City's Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in October while Schies won that tournament as well as the O City Classic just two weeks ago.
- This was the program's fifth tournament victory and 10th individual win.
- For Schies, this was her 8th career win, 4th win this season, and 2nd consecutive win.
