Rams Make Coaching Change: Shingleton Appointed as Head Coach

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan Athletic Director Steven Trachier announced that Head Men’s Basketball Coach Terry Waldrop has been released from his duties effective this morning.

“I want to take the program in a different direction,” Trachier said. “To do this, I think a change in the head coaching position is warranted. I want to thank Coach Waldrop for his winning legacy across thirteen seasons at Texas Wesleyan. He has certainly had a positive impact on the lives of the many student-athletes he has coached during his tenure, and we are grateful for his service.”

Trachier moved to appoint Associate Head Coach Brennen Shingleton as the new head coach of the Rams. Shingleton has been a member of the Texas Wesleyan basketball coaching staff for 10 years, serving in a key coaching role during the Rams National Championship season in 2006.

Waldrop exits the Texas Wesleyan sidelines with 270 wins to his credit.  He led the Rams to the 2006 NAIA Division I National Championship and NAIA National Tournament appearances in six of the last seven seasons.

Shingleton has served the University for the last ten seasons.  Following the 2007-08 campaign, he was promoted to Associate Head Coach.  During his tenure, the Rams have posted an overall record of 230-99 for an impressive winning percentage of .699.  In the last ten years, he has helped the Rams to eight seasons of 20 or more wins, including a school record tying 30 win season in 2008-09.
