Lady Rams Sign Zastoupil

FORT WORTH, TX:  Texas Wesleyan University head women’s golf coach Kevin Millikan announced today the signing of Rachel Zastoupil out of Longview, TX.

Zastoupil played for coach Candee Collins at Pine Tree High School.  A four-year letter winner, she helped led PTHS to a district runner-up finish as a junior and a district championship in her senior year.  She was named team MVP and 1st-team All-District as well as 1st-team Academic All-District in each of those seasons, while notching a total of eight top-five finishes.  As a senior she placed fourth individual in the district tournament.

Zastoupil has also been a participant in First Tee Piney Woods, where she was Girls Champion in 2011 and Player of the Year in 2010.  She has also served as a volunteer and mentor for First Tee in each of the last two years.  She also qualified for the NTPGA East Area and Tour Championships last year.

"I'm very pleased that Rachel has chosen to attend Texas Wesleyan and represent our program,” Millikan said.  “She's a motivated competitor and student-athlete that I expect will make great contributions to our team."

The Texas Wesleyan Athletic Department announced in early December its expansion to include women’s golf beginning in the 2012-2013 school year.  Millikan, who is currently in his sixteenth year of service at Texas Wesleyan, will head the program.  Millikan previously served ten seasons as head men’s golf coach and seven seasons as Athletic Director.  He also currently serves the department as Director of New Sport Development.
