FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (3-0) grabbed a pair of win from Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (0-5). The Rams won game one 6-2 before taking game two 4-1 at La Grave Field on Saturday.

Starting pitcher Dillon Wilson got off to a hot start for the Rams, working through the first three innings almost flawlessly. Wilson struck out eight of the first ten batters he faced. He held a spotless stat line through three and two thirds innings until Chase Davis got the Saints in the hit column with a line drive single into right field.

Hillsdale also held the Rams scoreless thru the first four innings, only allowing two hits.

The Rams got on the board to start the fifth inning, when nine-hole hitter Jake Howeth sent a blast well over the left center fence. The Rams then loaded the bases for Brian White who lined a shot perfectly out of reach in right center to score two, extending the lead to 3-0. Hunter Robinson stuck a blooper into center to score another pushing the lead to 4-0 advantage. Stephen Niedwiecki picked up an RBI with a ground out to first base, and Lassiter pushed the lead to 6-0 with a RBI single through the right side in a big breakthrough bat-around inning.

Braiden Black put the Saints in the run column in the sixth inning with a two RBI single into left field to cut the lead to a 6-2 Ram lead.

That was all the Saints were able to accrue as Wesleyan took one 6-2. Wilson (1-0) got the win throwing 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits to go along with 12 strikeouts. White went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI in game one.

The Rams got on the board early in game two, scoring on an error and an Alex Padilla single up the middle to gain a 2-0 lead to start the game.

The Saints manufactured a run in the third with some help by a throwing error to cut the lead to a 2-1 Wesleyan lead.

The Rams took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning after a Padilla double led to a Howeth swinging bunt RBI single to third base.

The Saints could do nothing to muster up a comeback, and the Rams took game two 4-1.

Chris Pearson (1-0) picked up the win tossing 5.0 innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits and seven strikeouts.

Padilla went 3 for 3 with an RBI in the win. Howeth went 1 for 3 with a RBI for the Rams.

The Rams will play Lubbock Christian University tomorrow, February 5 at La Gave Field in a single, nine inning game starting at 12:00 p.m.
