FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head softball coach Shannon Gower announced today the signing of three student athletes for the 2013 season.
Kendall Kizer is a sophomore transfer student out of Vernon College where she played for head coach John Blair. A middle infielder, Kizer was a 1st-team All-Conference selection and an NJCAA All-Star selection after hitting .370 with 12 2Bs and 17 RBI in her freshman year. Kizer is a product of Aledo High School, where she won a State Championship in 2008 and was named both All-District and Academic All-District.
Kimberly Stanley is a sophomore transfer from Hill College. Stanley played shortstop for Hill head coach Leigh Ebner. She also played for Kari Kitchens at Arlington Bowie High School. There she was a four-time All-District selection. In her freshman year she was named the team’s newcomer of the year and most improved. She earned 1st-team All-District accolades in her sophomore campaign.
Amber Tucker is an outfielder out of Red Oak High School. She was a three-time All-District selection for coach Tatum Thorne. Tucker was named 2nd-team All-District and Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and 1st-team All-District and team MVP as a junior.
The Lady Rams went 29-25 and reached the Red River Athletic Conference championship game for a second consecutive season in 2011. The 2012 Lady Rams will open the season at the Cowtown Classic at Fort Worth’s Gateway Park, February 17-18.
