Bosco Named Scholar Athlete

SILVIS, IL: The NAIA has released its 2010-11 Men’s Golf Scholar Athletes, and Texas Wesleyan University’s Thomas Bosco was among those honored.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic standing to qualify.

This season, Bosco competed in three varsity events for the Rams, helping the team to two top-five finishes including a win at Tierre Verde at the Northwood Fall Shootout. Individually he counted five of seven rounds. He notched one top-ten finish, tying for sixth at two-over par at the Northwood Fall Shootout.

The Rams are currently in third round action at the 60th annual NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship. They are tied for 14th in the field of 29 teams with two rounds complete under rainy conditions at TPC @ Deere Run. Armando Villarreal made up for a double-bogey on 18 by knocking in an eagle on his final hole of the second round, the par five number two. That put Villarreal at one-over par 72 for the round. He is tied for 22nd amongst 156 individuals at five-over par for the tournament.
